   4 sendxmpp is a perl-script to send XMPP (jabber) messages, similar to
   5 what mail(1) does for mail. XMPP is an open, non-proprietary protocol
   6 for instant messaging. See www.jabber.org for more information.

   8 sendxmpp was written by me, Dirk-Jan C. Binnema, and is available under
   9 the term of the GNU General Public License v2. The hard work is done by
  10 Ryan Eatmon's Net::XMPP-modules, and you need have them installed for
  11 sendxmpp to work. Current maintainer is Lubomir Host 'rajo' <rajo AT
  12 platon.sk>

  14 Obviously, you also need a jabber account; they are freely available
  15 at jabber.org, but you can also install your own servers.

  17 sendxmpp is already in use for monitoring remote servers (servers can
  18 warn by sending xmpp-messages), and watching CVS commit messages
  19 (developers are all connected to a XMPP-chatroom to which messages are
  20 sent.
